Mahi Mahi Fishing Charters
Our Mahi Mahi charters are specialized trips where we focus exclusively on this vibrant, fast-paced species all day long. These trips take place in the summer and early fall, when the ocean is at its calmest and the water is at its clearest—ideal conditions for an exciting offshore adventure.
We spend the day trolling while scanning for birds, floating debris, and other signs of life that lead us to schools of Mahi Mahi. Once we locate the fish, most of the action comes through sight fishing—pitching live bait directly at the schools. It’s fast-paced and exhilarating: as quickly as you can get a bait in the water, you’re likely to hook up!
These are among our most popular charters. The average catch ranges from 3 to 12 pounds, with the occasional larger fish making a surprise appearance.
Target Species
We target Mahi Mahi during the summer and early fall months, from July through October. While searching for schools of Mahi on the surface, we often troll lines, which also gives us a chance to hook into other species. Common bycatch on these trips includes Blackfin or Skipjack tuna, with the occasional Sailfish or Wahoo making an appearance.
Where We Fish
On these charters, we run between 3 and 18 miles offshore, searching for schools of Mahi Mahi cruising near the surface in the calm, crystal-clear waters. We typically troll on our way out to the deep-water drop-off, increasing our chances of hooking up along the way.
