Florida Kite Fishing

Kite fishing is a unique and highly effective technique that allows us to fish the entire water column! It’s extremely popular in our waters, giving anglers the chance to target multiple species at once, rather than just one.

The best part about fishing in South Florida is that you don’t need a full day to catch a sailfish. While longer trips increase our chances of finding sailfish and the hottest bite, shorter trips can still offer exciting action. Once we set up at a prime spot, we typically position the boat into the wind and fish three baits on each kite while idling around. This method allows us to bottom fish and use live baits in the mid-water column, ensuring we cover the entire water column for maximum opportunity.

Target Species

Sailfish are typically the primary target, but kite fishing allows us to catch a wide variety of species. Common bycatch includes Kingfish, Blackfin Tuna, Mahi Mahi, Wahoo, Bonita, and more. During our peak season from March to May, it’s not uncommon to hook multiple Sailfish and other species—it’s the best kind of chaos! We generally offer kite fishing trips from November through June.

Where We Fish

We typically stay within ¾ to 2 miles of shore. However, the distance we travel north or south depends on the trip duration. On longer trips, we often run 25-30 miles in search of clean water and strong current. We typically fish in depths ranging from 80 to 300 feet, around artificial reefs, wrecks, or any area holding a large concentration of bait.
