We were running a mixed trolling spread of bonita strips and rigged ballyhoo, targeting pelagics in the deep blue. The trophy mahi hit a ballyhoo rigged with a blue and white Sea Witch lure, a classic combo for targeting big dolphin fish (mahi mahi).
This giant bull mahi put on a wild show—jumping all over the ocean and making long, drag-screaming runs that lasted nearly an hour. It was an epic fight and a memory we won’t forget anytime soon.
