Target Species

We target a mix of iconic species in Southeast Florida.

Sailfish

Sailfish are among the most sought-after species in Southeast Florida, and we most commonly target them using live bait fished under kites. While they can be caught year-round, the prime season for sailfish typically occurs during the winter and spring months.

Mahi Mahi

Mahi Mahi are available year-round, but the peak season is during the summer when we chase down schools offshore in calm, crystal-clear waters. This colorful and delicious fish is a favorite among anglers and a popular choice for those looking to load the cooler.

Black Grouper

Southeast Florida is home to numerous reefs and wrecks that support thriving populations of delicious grouper species. We target them using bottom fishing techniques with live bait, focusing our efforts during the open season from May 1 to December 31.

Blackfin Tuna

Blackfin Tuna are found in our waters year-round, thanks to the close proximity of the continental shelf. The best times to target them are during low-light conditions—early in the morning and late in the afternoon—with frequent activity around our wrecks and reefs.

Amberjack

Southeast Florida is fortunate to have large Amberjacks, most commonly caught while bottom fishing around our plentiful artificial reefs and wrecks during the fall and winter months. Often referred to as "reef donkeys," these strong, hard-fighting fish frequently weigh over 50 pounds and deliver an intense battle.

Kingfish

Kingfish (King Mackerel) are abundant in our waters throughout the year and are a common catch around the numerous reefs and wrecks. These fast, hard-fighting fish are frequently smoked into delicious fish dips and provide an ample amount of tasty meat.

Mutton Snapper

Mutton Snapper are among the most sought-after eating fish in Southeast Florida. We catch them year-round while bottom fishing around nearshore wrecks and reefs, often alongside various other snapper and grouper species. Muttons grow big in our waters and are known for their excellent table quality.

Sharks

Southeast Florida has several species of sharks, including the massive Hammerhead Shark, particularly during the spring months as they migrate near the surface. These sharks are a popular target for anglers looking to test their strength and hook into a true apex predator of the Atlantic.

Swordfish

Swordfish trips are a great option for hardcore anglers looking to battle one of the most epic fish in the ocean. In our waters, swordfish typically weigh between 60 and 80 pounds, but they can reach up to 500 pounds—that’s a serious haul of meat for your group to take home!

Wahoo

Wahoo are present in our local waters year-round, but fishing success is heavily influenced by wind conditions, moon phases, and water quality. Speed trolling in the fall typically produces the best results, though great bites can happen any time of year. These fish make some of the best sashimi you’ll ever taste.

Yellowtail Snapper

Yellowtail Snapper are among the most sought-after reef fish in our local waters. While they can be caught year-round, the best fishing typically occurs during the spring and summer months. Chumming is an effective technique that draws large schools to the surface, making it an excellent way to fill the box with this delicious catch.

Barracuda

Barracudas are abundant in our waters and can be caught year-round. Known for their aggression and razor-sharp teeth, they are most commonly found around reefs and wrecks, making them a frequent catch on our charters.
